European Advanced Cargo Declaration

Effective January 1st, 2011, the European Advanced Cargo Declaration will become mandatory. This regulation, already in place for cargo imported into the U.S., will now be extended to U.S. Exports. Therefore, USA cargo touching any European Port, regardless if its final destination is within the EU or NOT (Transshipment Cargoes), will have to be manifested 48 hours prior to loading.

To be compliant with European Advanced Cargo Declaration, MTS Logistics Inc. will require shippers to send complete Master BL Instructions by cargo cut off at noon (same deadline as AES).

The data elements required to transmit the manifest to EU Customs are as follows:

• Shipper and Consignee full style name and address

• Notify Party full style name and address, if consigned “to order”

• Cargo Description with 6 digit HS code*

• Package Type / Piece Count

• Container and Seal number

• Cargo gross weight (in kilograms)

• UN code for dangerous goods

We will need to receive the above information with AES Number (if MTS is not handling the SED on your behalf).
